Works in our Community

We work to spread God’s love in our community. Here are some of the works that we want to share in the hope of encouraging others to get involved in our or their communities.

Midsummer Bible Camp

Mission Work with Games?

The church that meets at Chapel Hill has been a part of Midsummer Bible Camp (MSBC) for years. We work with other local churches to create a camp experience for the youth of not only our churches but for our community. Midsummer Bible Camp exists to give children an opportunity to spend a week learning about the Bible and how Jesus changes our lives. We do this through short devos, classes, worship, and even games, team building, and new friendships.

It takes a team of christian men and women to make camp a reality. Everyone who participates in camp grows closer to God and their teammates. We have a team of cooks, counselors, teachers, medical staff, and others who volunteer for a common purpose.

“Teach the Bible. Be able to get along with others and try to encourage others.” -Bernice Potts

Food through the Ark

We regularly host a food drive that is easy for all of our members to integrate into their grocery shopping experience. Each month we highlight a different food item to collect for the Ark which serves south Cheatham County families. Check our bulletin for information on the item of the month! Our Sewing Group

Our sewing group comes together once a month to make pants and dresses. The group makes about 500 dresses and pants each year that are sent to Healing Hands International (HHI) and distributed to Honduras, Texas, Africa and Mexico for children in poverty. These dresses are typically delivered to Healing Hands International in November or December of each year. In 2021 some of the dresses are being sent to Colonet, Mexico with Connor Hawkins as he goes on a mission trip to the area in July.

This is a great period of fellowship each month with the ladies having a potluck lunch as they finish out the Tuesday morning. The material that is used is donated and the group sews on Mrs. Patsy’s machines. Mrs. Johnnie would like to share that it’s really easy and a lot of fun. The group uses a simple pattern and if anyone is interested in getting involved then talk with any of the sewing crew!

Our participation in the MAGI box program through Healing Hands International (HHI) made us aware of the need for dresses and pants/shorts in areas that HHI was already serving. This is how we started sewing for the cause. You never know how you’ll find a need that you can fulfill!

If you would like more information please talk to Mrs. Patsy, Mrs. Johnnie or Mrs. Rosie for details.

In 2021 the Sewing Group completed 441 dresses, 96 pairs of shorts, and 18 skirts. Connor distributed 299 dresses and 40 pairs of shorts on his mission trip to Mexico. The remaining items were sent to Healing Hands International to be distributed with the Magi boxes.

MAGI Boxes

MAGI boxes led to us knowing of the need. Taken in September/October. Honduras, Texas, Mexico, Africa.

The MAGI project is an outreach project that is part of Healing Hands International (HHI). MAGI stands for Make A Godly Impact. MAGI Boxes help pave the way to spread Jesus’s love by meeting the physical needs of children in poverty. This includes places within the USA such as Texas and abroad in areas such as Honduras, Mexico, and Africa.

At Chapel Hill we help make these boxes each year. The MAGI boxes are normally available at the church building beginning in September. Everyone is welcome to pick-up one of the shoebox-sized boxes and start filling it up! Don’t worry, there’s a list of things to include. Filling a MAGI box tends to cost between $30 and $35. They are delivered to HHI towards the end of October. Check out Healing Hands International page for more information about the MAGI project.

If you would like more information about Chapel Hill’s involvement with MAGI talk to Mrs. Johnnie.

In 2021we supplied 33 MAGI Boxes and additional supplies to HHI. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this work.

Backpack Fueling Program

Throughout the school year we help curb hunger by providing bags of “snacky” kids’ food items to help less fortunate kids make it through the weekends and school breaks.

These bags are put together most Wednesday nights after classes throughout the school year. These bags serve kids that attend KSES and HHS in a discrete way.

If you would like more information about this work talk to Mrs. Beth Dawson.
